What is an Innovation Blackbelt?

Why an Innovation Blackbelt?
To demonstrate your commitment and expertise in the field of Innovation. You can use the Innovation Blackbelt certification to show that you have undertaken an effort to establish yourself among a select group of professional who are educated in and experienced with Innovation.
How do I get an Innovation Blackbelt?
There are three components to getting your Innovation Blackbelt:
- Participate in an Innovation Bootcamp event
- Take the Blackbelt examination
- Demonstrate your use of Innovation methods through real world application
- Pay the applicable evaluation and adminitrative fee
What is the exam like and where do I take it?
The exam is an intensive multipart written or on-line examination that takes approximately three hours. The exam is taken under the on-line supervision of a Master blackbelt examiner. The material in the examination is covered during the Innovation Master Class but also relies on your ability to express good process judgment and skill in the basic concepts and fundamental of process analysis and design. If you decide to take the exam you will need to register before or during the Master Class. The Innovation Master Class will cover all of the fundamentals for the exam. Specific attention is paid to the methods and techniques of process analysis and management.
What if I don't pass the exam?
Our intensive approach to the exam is balanced by the education delivered in the Bootcamp. So, if you are serious about certification we will do everything possible to prepare you. If however, you do not pass the exam on your first attempt you are welcome to return to a future Innovation Master Class where you can retake the exam. There is a fee of $495 for each retake after the second.
Are there different types of Innovation Blackbelts?
YES! There are actually four degrees of blackbelt certification that we provide:
First Degree
Participate in an Innovation Master Class
Successfully pass the examination at the 80th or above percentile
Second Degree
Participate in an Innovation Master Class
Successfully pass the examination at the 90th or above percentile
Demonstrate your use of Innovation methods through real world application
Third Degree
Participate in an Innovation Master Class
Successfully pass the examination at the 95th or above percentile
Demonstrate your use of Innovation methods through real world application
Fourth Degree
Participate in an Innovation Master Class
Successfully pass the examination at the 98th or above percentile
Demonstrate your use of Innovation methods through multiple real world applications
Do I get an actual Certificate?
Yes. After you complete each phase of the Innovation Blackbelt (and your examination has been graded) you will receive a hardcopy certificate of completion and will be listed as an Innovation Blackbelt in our registry.
